March 3, 2025 – Governor Glenn Youngkin recently announced that Michael Polsky, MD, has been named to a one-year term on the state’s Advisory Board on Polysomnographic Technology. Dr. Polsky, a North Chesterfield resident, is head of the Sleep Department at Pulmonary Associates of Richmond, Richmond’s largest and oldest private practice dedicated to pulmonary medicine.
Dr. Polsky is one of five Advisory Board members, and the only physician to serve in this capacity. As a member of the Advisory Board, Dr. Polsky will attend periodic advisory board meetings to discuss and make recommendations on licensing requirements and regulations related to polysomnography technologists in the state.
Polysomnographic technology is the process of analyzing, scoring, monitoring, and recording data during sleep and wakefulness to assist in the diagnosis of sleep disorders. Pulmonary Associates of Richmond’s Sleep Laboratories, located in three of its five Richmond-area offices, are staffed by licensed Polysomnographic Technologists who work with board-certified physicians in sleep medicine to diagnose and treat a wide range of sleep disorders including narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and other disorders.
Pulmonary Associates offers a range of treatment options to patients with sleep disorders, including the Inspire device to treat sleep apnea without a face mask or other external apparatus.
“It is an honor to serve along with my fellow Advisory Board members who are committed to ensuring that polysomnographic technologists across the state meet standards for continuing education and professional development,” said Dr. Polsky.
