Pulmonary Associates of Richmond is excited to introduce our new provider: Zeeshan Khakwani, MD, FACP.
Dr. Khakwani joined our team as an allergist and clinical immunologist. He is particularly interested in atopic dermatitis/eczema, allergic rhinitis, asthma, eosinophilic esophagitis, food and drug allergies and immune deficiencies. His education, experience, expertise and perspective in this field make him an incredible asset to our team.

Meet Dr. Khakwani!
Dr. Khakwani chose his specialty because he has always been fascinated by the immune system and its important role in disease processes and effective treatments. He views his job as working with the immune system for the benefit of the patients. He appreciates that this is a relatively new specialty, which means there is much more to discover and learn.
Dr. Khakwani would like all of his patients to know that he values them as human beings and will put forth his best effort for each and every patient by personalizing his treatment plans according to their needs.
Dr. Khakwani grew up in a small town in the center of Pakistan called Dera Ismail Khan. He has a lovely wife, who is also a physician, and together they have two beautiful daughters!
Outside of work, Dr. Khakwani enjoys daily walks, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, cooking, playing and watching cricket, and spending quality time with his wife and daughters. He loves the Richmond area because of its changing seasons and close proximity to mountains, beaches and national parks!
Education
Dr. Khakwani attended medical school at the Ayub Medical College in Pakistan. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, PA, where he was honored as Chief Resident. He completed a fellowship in adult and pediatric allergy and clinical immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and was a fellow at the American College of Physicians.
